The Kick-off Meeting (KoM) of the partners of the AIOS – AI-Driven Open Science: A Curriculum for Research and Innovation European project, was successfully held on 21 and 22 May 2026 in Larissa, Greece. The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), Greek partner, took part in the transnational meeting, marking the official launch of a two-year European collaboration aimed at strengthening Open Science through the use of Artificial Intelligence.

The University of Thessaly, Coordinator of the AIOS project, hosted the two-day sessions, attended by representatives of all consortium partners from Greece, Italy, Norway and Ukraine. The main objective of the kick-off meeting was to confirm the project's shared vision, establish the framework for cooperation, and agree on the first steps for the implementation of its activities and deliverables. DAISSy-HOU was represented by Achilles KAMEAS, Professor at HOU, Director of DAISSy, who actively contributed to the KoM activities, including the planning of communication activities aimed at maximizing the visibility and impact of AIOS results.

Specifically, the first day of the KoM sessions focused on the project management and organization, by a presentation of the financial framework, the monitoring and reporting procedures, as well as the collaboration tools used among partners. This was followed by technical discussions on the development of self-assessment tools and the design of personalized learning pathways (WP2), as well as a presentation of the structure and development timeline of the educational curriculum (AIOS Curriculum – WP3). Interactive group sessions were also held, where the partners exchanged ideas and formulated the initial specifications for the AIOS project tools.

On the second KoM day, emphasis was put on dissemination and visibility issues, which fall under the Work Package coordinated by DAISSy-HOU (WP5). In this context, the discussion tackled the dissemination and exploitation strategy for AIOS's results, the creation of the project's official website, its presence on social media, as well as each partner's role in communicating AIOS activities. This was followed by presentations on the development of the training material (Training Kit – WP4), the structure of the Open Educational Resources (OERs), the multilingual implementation of the content, and the next steps about in its production.

A constructive, collaborative spirit characterized the AIOS KoM that laid the basis of the project's successful implementation. Cooperation among the partners was strengthened, and a shared working framework was established for the development of innovative solutions that will advance Open Science and Artificial Intelligence in European higher education and research.
