The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU), the Greek partner of the “AIOS: AI-Driven Open Science – A Curriculum for Research and Innovation” European project, invites you to the international Multiplier Event to be organized on Tuesday 20 October 2026, by the University of Bologna, the Italian project partner.
The main aim of the event is to present the educational programme of AIOS, which is built on the new professional profile of the Open Science Officer (OSO), developed within the project's implementation. Through lectures and presentations, participants in the event will learn about the role of AI in Open Science, the relationship between Open Science, research and education, as well as the objectives, curriculum, Learning Journeys and current progress of the AIOS project. Then, the participants will be invited to share their views through the project's online evaluation and validation process.
More precisely, the AIOS project brings together Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Open Science practices in higher education and research. A curriculum has been developed about a new professional profile, the Open Science Officer (OSO), who will support researchers, connect institutional policies with everyday research practice, promote the responsible use of AI and help strengthening the Open Science culture within academic, research and business organisations. The preliminary AIOS curriculum comprises twenty (20) modules organised in five (5) thematic sections, corresponding to a workload of eight (8) ECTS credits. AI is not treated as a separate subject but is integrated throughout the curriculum.
In particular, the AIOS curriculum covers the following thematic areas:
- Open Science fundamentals, research data management, FAIR principles and foundations of AI.
- Open Science resources, repositories and data workflows.
- Management literacy and implementation planning of Open Science initiatives.
- Legal and ethical aspects of Open Science and the use of AI.
- Applied Open Science and practical use of AI in educational and professional contexts.
The AIOS curriculum is addressed to prospective Open Science Officers and university managers, researchers, doctoral candidates and academic staff. It is also addressed to research-support and data-management professionals, educators and trainers, R&D and innovation managers in businesses, as well as policymakers and public administrators.

It is coordinated by the University of Thessaly (Greece), and the consortium comprises five (5) partners from four (4) European countries (Greece, Italy, Norway and Ukraine). The DAISSy Research Group of the HOU, Greek partner, will work towards fulfilling AIOS's overarching goal of establishing a modern European research and education ecosystem in which Artificial Intelligence is used responsibly and ethically to strengthen cooperation, innovation, and the open dissemination of knowledge.
