The DAISSy research group of Hellenic Open University (https://daissy.eu/) re-launches the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), developed in the framework of the European project EUHeritage: Skills for promotion, valorization, exploitation, mediation and interpretation of European Cultural Heritage (https://www.euheritage.eu/).

The project was funded under the Erasmus+/KA2/Sector Skills Alliances programme and created a new transnational curriculum for cultural professionals and students, focusing on digital and transferable competences as well as social skills linked to the ‘tourism experience’ in the cultural heritage sector. The project was implemented with the collaboration of 10 institutions from 8 European countries – the DAISSy group of HOU participated as the main technological partner of the project representing Greece.

The online training programme is offered again in 2022, by the MOOC Platform developed by the DAISSy team for the EUHeritage project. The online course starts on Monday 26 September 2022. The online course is offered free of charge, in English. Successful learners will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion and Online Open Badges!

EUHeritage is a transnational project developed under Erasmus+ EU program (Sector Skills Alliance for Design and Delivery of VET) coordinated by Materahub. The event was attended by many guest speakers from the city of Larissa, who represented the field of culture, tourism and business and had the opportunity to present strategies, training programs and examples of good business practices in the promotion and utilization of the cultural inventory and in strengthening the tourism product.

The event was addressed to cultural professionals, managers in the field of culture and tourism, vocational education and training providers, business consultants, managers of small and medium enterprises in culture and tourism, decision makers, representatives of municipalities and cultural associations as well as students and graduates in culture and tourism and kept the interest of the participants undiminished for several hours.

Ms. Panagiota Polymeropoulou, Researcher at the EUHeritage project, in the DAISSy Research Group – Hellenic Open University, presented the EUHeritage project and the MOOC online training program developed and provided within the project, attracting more than 1000 enrollments from around the world and with a significant percentage of successful completion of the course by the Greek side. In her speech entitled “Culture, Tourism and Entrepreneurship through the EUHeritage project” she stressed the high interest that Greece has always shown, for training programs and lifelong learning on issues of management, promotion and exploitation of cultural heritage as well as issues concerning archeology and museums.

The EUHeritage project colleague and trainer – moderator of the national pilot, Ms. Zoe Akrivouli, Economist-Business and Development Consultant, Researcher DAISSy Research Group- Hellenic Open University, spoke about the pilot program which has been completed at the national level for Greece and the practical learning and training of the tool “Experience design canvas for culture and tourism professionals in Greece”.

The event was greeted with enthusiasm by the local media from the city of Larissa, with posts and press releases about the event, emphasizing the importance of entrepreneurship in culture and tourism. We would like to thank all the invited speakers for their interesting presentations as well as the participants for their support. A certificate of participation was sent to all those registered on the form.

In the first part of the multiplier event, were presented the objectives as well as the blended training SILVHER course designed and delivered for University students of Italy, Porugal and Turkey. The platform for the online part of SILVHER course was developed by the DAISSy – HOU (Greek partner).

In the first part, we had the honor to have two invited speakers. Ms. Artemis Stamatelou, Public Relations Officer at the European Parliament in the Directorate-General for Translation, presented the structure and objectives of the Citizens’ Language Directorate and then the open platform “My House of European History”, which contains a digital collection of written personal stories, memories and testimonies on any subject, as narrated by people from all over the world.

Ms. Maria Aivalioti, Tour script editor at Clio Muse Tours, presented the European project RePAST, focusing on the product and success story of the project: “Dark” pages of history in an audio tour. The company Clio Muse Tours creates thematic digital audio tours for places of culture in Greece and abroad.

The second part of the multiplier event, included presenations in particular of European projects on Tangible and Intangible Cultural heritage, CH management and Tourism, which HOU either coordinates or participates as partner. Namely, were presented by DAISSy – HOU researchers, the project DELTA  and blended course, the NICHE project as well as ROMAN ROUTES project and online course.

Mrs. Panagiota Polymeropoulou, Researcher at DAISSy Research Group of HOU presented the content and objectives of the European project EUHeritage and specifically the content of the online course of EUHerit. The online course will start on the 21^st June 2021. The course is targeting at elevating the digital and entrepreneurial skills of students and young professionals in the field of Cultural Heritage, through five main modules: M1 Cultural heritage and experience tourism for local development; M2 Design an innovative visitor experience; M3 Digital strategies and tools for cultural heritage; M4 Entrepreneurial approach for cultural heritage; and M5 Sustainability, impact measurement and project evaluation. Also, Panagiota presented the outline and content of EUHeritage e-learning platform, developed by the DAISSy – HOU.

The event attended students and graduates of study programs related to Culture and Tourism, researchers and educators. The event was organized online due to the epidemiological data of the country during this period, attracting more than 35 participants, while it was also significantly promoted on social media. Also, the event was broadcasted live on the DAISSy YouTube channel with over 90 views.

This Talk will also include a presentation of EU Heritage training programme and how it has overcome challenges. The Talk is being organised in cooperation of the EU Heritage project – which ENCATC is a proud partner of!

This event is proposed by ENCATC member Fitzcarraldo Fondazione in the framework of the Erasmus+ EU Heritage project, aimed to create a new transnational curriculum for cultural heritage professionals, focused on digital skills, transferable and transversal competences, soft skills and skills connected to “experience tourism” in the field of cultural heritage.
