The DAISSy Research Group of the Hellenic Open University (HOU) has been implementing“ADMIT – Generative AI and LLM in Higher Education” European project, as the Greek partner, which aims at supporting the transition of Higher Education into the era of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI). In particular, the main objective of ADMIT is to create a framework for the responsible, ethical, and effective integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Artificial Intelligence into teaching and learning processes, addressing challenges and leveraging emerging opportunities for academic institutions.
Within this framework and taking into account the completion of the second year of its implementation, the ADMIT project has achieved significant progress, with DAISSy-HOU being responsible for the production of critical tools. Specifically, the Research Group led the creation of the “Guide of ethical use of LLM generative AI Systems in Higher Education”. The Guide synthesizes international policies and research into eight ethical dimensions, examining benefits and risks for students, educators, and institutions, while offering measurable indicators for responsible AI adoption. This Guide is available, free of charge, here.
Additionally and based on the project's ethical taxonomy, DAISSy-HOU developed the innovative “Institutional Self-Assessment Tool”, an online tool that allows Universities to evaluate their current level of GenAI usage through 99 targeted questions. Upon completion of the questionnaire, users receive an automatically generated report with strengths, gaps, and tailored recommendations.
- The report for the Institutional Self-Assessment Tool is available here.
- The tool is offered for use, free of charge, at the following link: https://admit.daissy.eu/

ADMIT is a three-year project (01.01.2024–31.12.2026) funded by the European Union’s “ERASMUS Lump Sum Grant” program. It is coordinated by EADTU (Netherlands), and the consortium consists of twelve (12) partners from ten (10) European countries (UK, Germany, Switzerland, Greece, Spain, Italy, Cyprus, Netherlands, Turkey, and Finland). The DAISSy Research Group of the HOU ensures the effective implementation of project activities in Greece, while also connecting relevant national stakeholders to maximize the utilization and impact of the ADMIT project results.
